Potty Milestone...

Yay!!! I just got off the phone with Anand and Arjun and am happy... For the first time today Arjun did his poop in the potty... Yay!!!

A little background...

This little fella has learnt to pee in the potty when either mom or dad are around (It is another matter that he refuses to pee in school or anywhere else in the potty - he would do that only in his pull ups!) but anyway, when it comes to poop, he has always remained stubborn. He would squirm and keep asking "Arjun wants pullups Amma... Arjun wants diaper amma... It would break my heart a little... He would squirm but will not go on the potty.) It is pretty frightening for a 2 year old - who has been so secure and tight in his diapers to suddenly be told "No more diapers" - his world changes - it is scary for him - but it is something we have to do...I certainly DO NOT want a 30 year old in diapers... :-)

Anyway so today morning when i called home, Anand told me that he is squirming but refuses to go... I remembered what one of my friends had advised. She told me to distract him with having him watch TV. I told Anand to quickly grab the potty and set it in front of the TV and put on a video that he likes...

I called 30 mts later and was told that it worked. Yay!!! Arjun told me that he went brown potty and i mustered as much enthusiasm as I could within my cubicle walls while being aware that atleast 3 pairs of ears next to me would hear my conversation, whether i liked it or not, whether they liked it or not...

Anyway, who cares! Day 1 of going for poop without a diaper has been accomplished. Now I only hope that he doesnt end up insisting on a video everytime he wants to poop. I dont want to install a TV in the bathroom...

There i go again - thinking ahead of myself. Will handle it as it comes (Oops... that reminds me of something else that I need to blog - Maybe my next post.)

Anyway, One more Yay.....and then am back to work

Amma - not a cool chick! :-(

This happened at least 3-4 weeks back...

Arjun picked up his favorite yellow striped shirt and wanted me to help him wear it.. (BTW, he has become very independent and now chooses his own clothes...The only thing I tell him is that he has to choose a full shirt for the night. During the day time he can choose half shirts)

Anyway, once he wore the yellow shirt, he came to me and said "Look Amma...Arjun is a cool dude!) I said yes, and then the girl in me asked him "Amma is wearing an orange and maroon dress. Can Amma be a cool chick?"

He promptly said "No". I think somewhere my heart dropped a couple of inches inside thinking "Sigh...I can't get those words out of even a 2 year old"

I asked him "Why?"

and bless his heart, he promptly said "Chick is a farm animal. So amma not cool chick. Amma can be cool lady"

:-)Thank you Pumpkin!
